University Center
Client: Anderson University
Project: University Center New Construction
Every college campus has a heart – a place that is physically and socially at the center of student life. Anderson University’s proposed University Center was envisioned to be such a place. But for the building to truly be a meaningful resource to the entire student body, it had to reflect their interests and lend itself to their needs.
Students wanted a building with quiet and comfortable – almost hidden - spaces. Administration needed a structure that could accommodate large groups and events with ease. Initially these requests seemed in conflict, but our design team believed there was a way to exceed both groups’ expectations. The result was a 93,000 square foot building that never fails to feel both intimate and inviting.
Today, the facility unites students, faculty, and visitors. Its design stitches together elements from the entire campus into a tapestry of imaginative features and intuitive use of space. The building’s focal point is its “nest". It’s an elevated, rounded space inspired by the school’s mascot – a raven. Here, students will have a place to meet, share ideas, and enjoy the college experience. Truly, this University Center is aptly named.
