The Flagship Enterprise Center (FEC) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, May 13, to kick off the construction of two new facilities. The new Accelerator Building and Lab Addition are the fourth and fifth buildings added to the Flagship Enterprise Center’s campus located within the Flagship Business Park.
The Flagship Accelerator Building will be an 80,000 square foot multi-tenant business/industrial facility similar to the FEC’s existing Energy Systems Center. The facility will be LEED certified, an internationally recognized environmentally-conscious building standard, and will feature a solar wall to utilize passive solar heat. The second facility will be a 3,200 square foot Laboratory to be added onto the east end of the existing Flagship Enterprise Center. As a laboratory and prototyping space, the addition will house the FEC’s second full-chassis dynamometer, a tool used to measure the torque and power characteristics of automobiles.

Paperless Plan Distribution
In the last six months, krM has been successful in significantly reducing a large percentage of the paper printing required for the bidding of construction projects. The plans and specifications are uploaded to online websites that are made available at no charge to bidding contractors. While some contractors still elect to pay refundable deposits for paper plans, the large majority prefer and elect to only download the electronic plans.
While many of the contractors do some printing in-house of these downloaded plans, overall they report that the number of pages either acquired from print shops or printed internally is significantly less than the traditional method. This process reduces printing costs, paper consumption and waste for krM clients. On the projects that this has been implemented, the printing costs have been cut by two-thirds.

The young and rapidly growing St. John Vianney (SJV) Parish led by Father Brian Dudzinski, broke ground on the first building to be constructed on their 109 acre campus located near the intersection of SR 238 and 126th St. in Fishers, Indiana.
With a large piece of farmland and a vision for a unique campus community, SJV engaged krM Architecture+ & HDB Cram & Ferguson to develop a long-range master plan for the property. The ground breaking event drew a crowd of nearly 200 to celebrate the construction of the first of 10 proposed buildings on the master plan, the Bridge Building. This facility will initially serve as the main site to celebrate mass and house various administrative functions. As the Parish continues to grow and the master plan is implemented, this building will be converted into a Youth Center including gymnasium space.
krM+ Project Architect, Stuart Godfrey, shares that “the project is envisioned as a bridge for the Parish; it is a means to move the church from its current, off-site location to the permanent campus. The move will enable more membership growth and expand the Parish’s ministry opportunity within the community.”
